The super-secret item is a HATCH RESTORE 2, by Hatch Technologies. Reserved for VIPs and media unboxings, only a few are available at the screening.
Directed by Alexander Yellen (Z-Nation) and written and produced by Kelli McNeil-Yellen, Daruma follows the story of a bitter wheelchair user (Tobias Forrest) who discovers he has a daughter from a forgotten fling and his journey to drive her across the country to live with her maternal grandfather (Barry Bostwick). The only person who can help him is his cantankerous neighbor, a double amputee (John W. Lawson). Abigail Hawk (CBS Blue Bloods) plays the love interest and is an associate producer on the film.
Daruma has already attracted national media attention and has been lauded by advocates for its authentic casting of two disabled leads. Two-time Oscar-winner Peter Farrelly said the film was “great” in a recent interview with Los Angeles Magazine that also discussed his role as executive producer.
